While I was not trying this, I forgot to mention that my goal is to migrate my web site from a single site WordPress installation to a multi-site one.
Has BackupMigrate been tested for this transition?

That made a backup file.
However, I did restore to a new wordpress installation on a different domain name and it said the restore was successful, but when trying to access the site either for viewing or wp-admin I get this message:

The page isn’t redirecting properly
