Thanks for the reporting. It looks like the latest version of the Gutenberg plugin made a breaking change. We’ll get this fixed ASAP.

You can hide the lost password link with some CSS. To do that, go to Appearance > Customize, and add the following to the Additional CSS section and save it:

We unintentionally used a more modern syntax there and it’s causing you problems. This is happening because you’re on an outdated version of PHP. You can ask your host to update the version of PHP (preferably 7.2) on your web server and that will fix it. We’ll also issue an update to make the code more compatible so it doesn’t cause this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Restrict Content does not have payment functionality. If you’re referring to the Pro version, it does not support that feature at this time. You may want to check out Easy Digital Downloads and the Content Restriction extension.

Restrict Content doesn’t set any special cookies, it just uses the standard WordPress login functionality.
Does the WP Engine caching not automatically exclude logged in users? If not, do you know if they have any documentation specific to their system that we can reference?

Can you show me a screenshot of the page edit screen, showing the content area and the restriction settings?
Also, do you have any caching plugins installed?
Haven’t had a chance to test the
masterversion from GitHub yet, but just wanted to point out to anyone not aware that the file will unzip into a folder with a different name than the version distributed here on wp.org.
