Ah, that makes sense of course.
And that proxy script is easy in theory, but it would require some configuration for the plugin. You don’t want to have a proxy which can proxy just everywhere by some hostname parameter…
I can report a very similar problem.
The list of categories is never loaded, neither from the demo gallery, nor from my own.
A little AJAX debugging showed me that somehow the response to ws.php is always empty. However, if I recreate it with curl, the response is just fine.
