  • Could be lots of different things.

If you can’t get this to work, rather than continuing to bang your head against the wall (we’ve all been there) just start over and use this plugin:
    http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/duplicator/

Watch the video for the demonstration. Maybe I’m a wimp, but this thing makes the migration process so smooth, I can’t help but use it every time.

To me it looks like the problem is that your domain is pointing to the root, but your wordpress site is in the /wordpress directory.

Try going to http://yoursitedomain/wordpress and see if your site comes up.

    Nevermind…still not resolved.

I was having other problems with the blog since I installed the theme, so I decided to start from scratch…I totally erased the blog, re-uploaded everything, and this time chose a different theme from a different site that seems very trustable.

After installing it, the same bit of code shows up. I checked all the file permissions, they are ok…

The theme appears perfectly in the “presentation” tab on the administrative tool, but implementation always fails.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

    fixed….

Strangely, the permissions on the header.php file was 600, disallowing anyone other than the owner to view it.

All the other files in the directory somehow have the proper permissions.

    Thanks!

After I posted, I checked my post and it nothing appeared…why doesn’t anything just work???!! 🙂

    I installed a blog at http://eden.rutgers.edu/~weblissa/blog

I downloaded the “Prides” theme from this URL: http://www.wordpressgallery.com/?p=118

I uploaded the theme to the proper directory and activated it in the control panel.

When I view the blog, I see a short snippet of code, which comes from the header.php file:

    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"

This only happens in Explorer. When I view it in Firefox, nothing happens, just a blank screen.

    Any ideas??
