I have been able to get it working, seems to be a bug. I had multiple angles of a product per colour, as soon as I removed the additional photos and just kept the photos that i attached to the variations, it has started working.
Yes i can 100% confirm that the colour variations have images added in the correct colour.
Any help sorting this issue out would be greatly appreciated.
