I don’t know if this helps – I had exactly the same feeling when filling in the playlist form. Then it occurred to me to open a second broswer window and go to the media library (that’s where I keep my tracks but it could be a window to a remote directory where the files are stored) – then it’s just a cut and paste job to paste the file links into the ogg / mp3 fields in the form, save and move to the next. What seemed like a daunting job took 5 minutes. Of course its even easier if you have two monitors, but the idea is the same on a single screen.
