(I am able to disable/enable plugins and to save changes, apparently ok, though.)
Hi Lucian, yes, to confirm — ignoring the file extensions did work as expected.
Thanks for explaining that recursing into subdirectories is not yet a feature. It’s not possible for me to specify each subdirectory explicitly in the File Monitor settings, because both Divi and FlyingPress create and remove large numbers of them at unpredictable times and using unpredictable names.
This makes File Monitor much less useful to me, unfortunately: because without being able to exclude these directories and their many subdirectories, the plugin takes a long time to run, even when ignoring certain filetypes.
I’ll deactivate File Monitor for now, but will keep it installed, hoping that your team will be able to add that feature in an update fairly soon.
Hello Lucian,
Further to this — today’s report includes some files in the wp-content/cache directory, which I’d also set to be excluded. They’re pages that have been cached by FlyingPress, and have extensions .html.gz and .json.gz.
I guess I should maybe have asked — is exclusion recursive, ie. should all subdirectories of the excluded directory also be automatically excluded? I’d assumed so, but maybe not.
Also, I specified the directories to be excluded without adding a trailing slash to their names — does that make any difference?
Hello Lucian,
Yes, the wp-content/et-cache directory is Divi’s cache. The files being changed seem to be of two types. In the main et-cache/ there are four files with extension .data that change frequently — these are text files that seem to contain a bunch of data about media files on the site. Then in subdirectories with numeric names (eg. et-cache/2851), each small but many created, there are css files.
I’ll try your suggestion of excluding those filetypes, thanks.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Melapress File Monitor] Error when saving settingsHi Lucian, that’s great, thank you for the quick patch!
The problem seems to be fixed now, I can save the settings as expected.
