ok, so I just checked out the style.css doc for twentytwelve theme. As far as I can see it shows different types of css styles, such as id’s or classes. I am not seeing where one would add a container div that these classes would be applied to, which would usually be in another document. Is it not possible to essentially break apart a theme layout? Or is the 2012 theme right protected?

My understanding is the ‘child theme’ aka ‘css stylesheet’ is for styling, not structural layouts like adding container divs to a page.
