In reply to: .htaccess fileUmmm….well, it gave me the option to have them as *.domainname.com or domainname.com/*
Is that what you mean?
I selected the *.domainname.com

In reply to: .htaccess fileI am at a loss…how do I remedy where these pages are going? Is it something I am or am not doing? Is it something regarding my hosting that I need to change? Do I just need to find another host?
I know you cannot recommend a host here in the forums and I am seriously contemplating using one of the hosting services recommended by WordPress, that way it will clear up that aspect of it anyway.
Thanks for the feedback.

In reply to: .htaccess fileRoller, this was my reinstall. It is a new site so there was really nothing to backup since I haven’t been able to get the site to work.
I am “this close” to hiring someone to do this but I’d really like the satisfaction of figuring it out, but I am at the end of even having an idea of what to ask…so, may cost me some money.

In reply to: .htaccess fileWell, it just directs me to http://dynd.search-help.net/index.php?origURL=http%3A//test.247christianradio.com/&r=http%3A//247christianradio.com/wp-admin/network/settings.php
the page it is supposed to go to is http://test.247christianradio.com
I am just really stumped as I confirmed with my host that they do in fact allow wildcard domains and also setup in my dns the *.domainname.com” so that I could publish…just stumped but that isn’t unusual! 😉
Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

In reply to: .htaccess fileHmm…got the code entered into the .htaccess and still no cigar…I mean, it creates the site but will not display the dashboard for the new site or the new site itself…not sure that makes sense.
Any thoughts?

In reply to: .htaccess fileIt is not displaying in the cpanel on my server, is there another way you would advise me to access a complete view of all the files?

In reply to: .htaccess fileI am sorry, I was not clear.
It is when I tried to create the file that it said it already was there. That is when I did a search for it on my server and sure enough, it said it was there but then when I look in the file folder, nothing named .htaccess is there.

In reply to: Multisite with subdomainsThank you very much for answering/replying. I appreciate the help.

In reply to: Multisite with subdomainsOK, this thread is intriguing to me in that I am not certain if MU is what I need or not.
I am developing a network of site and want the bones of each site to be the same, by bones I mean the plugins, themes, some graphics (minus the header) and some content.
Is MU the thing I need?
I plan on having each subsite (is that right?) the landing for masked domains…so how they display is not so important too me but I am curious to know if a MU install will do the trick without having to build a couple hundred sites?
Thanks so much for any input, insights or direction.
