I have no experience with child themes. I’ve been trying with a couple of other themes to do what I described above and it worked, but those themes wasn’t as perfect as Tracks is for my use.
I was just combining codex’s Page of Posts with index.php file of chosen theme and then pasted it in page.php, deleting it’s content before.

The same solution I wanted to enter in this case.

Before I start playing with child theme, could you please tell me if this is possible to do it this way with Tracks? I’m not an eagle in php, unfortunately.
