I just created an identical wordpress.com account and the API key worked on the ww.wp.xz.cn blog.

Update – okay, I think I got the “guestbook” thing figured out. Deleted the page and put up a post, with the sticky option, and now visitors can comment.

What I still can’t find is the option for removing some of the info from the sidebar.
