Sorry, I can’t spend any more time on this, we need to start building our pages. I tried the Content Aware Sidebars plugin a few hours ago and it worked perfectly out of the box, and also had an option to merge with an existing sidebar in addition to a simple replacement. Thanks for trying to help, but after a month I need to move on.
It made no difference. In fact I noticed that when I reactivated the plugin to give it another chance, it created a section called “Inactive Sidebar (not used)” above the Inactive Widgets section on the left.
And no matter what I select as the sidebar replacement for the test page it displays whatever widgets are in that Inactive Sidebar area. Not the widgets that are in the default sidebar for pages, not the widgets that are in the replacement sidebar… what’s in Inactive Sidebar.
I even tried creating a new custom sidebar and set the test page to use that, in case there was something wrong from when I originally tried to use this plugin. Same thing happens, get the widgets for the inactive sidebar.
