CONFIRMED: error reproduced on Chrome browser.

I tried as I did above to replicate the “error establishing database connection.” This time I was able to get the Internal Server Error 500 on a non-Firefox browser for the first time.

Because this the ISE 500 error is different from the DB connection error, this tells me that they are unique errors (but not necessarily unrelated).

Does anything I’ve added in these last 3 posts change your assessments?

I’ve tried all afternoon to reproduce the above error on Chrome (6.0.472.55 beta). At one point, I tried opening up 20 different tabs. I got the pages to hang, but I got a different error message… On about 50% of the opened tabs (I believe the first ones to finish “loading,” and not necessarily the first ones I opened) I got this:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at XXXXXXXX [the name of my database on Network Solutions]. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

Obviously, I’m sure the username, pw, and/or hostname are correct as the site processed any request a few moments earlier, and then started processing new requests on its own (but not before forcing me to log back into WP admin).

On the other set of tabs (presumably the ones that finished “loading” last), I was asked to log back in to WP admin.

Do you think this problems is the same as and/or connected with the Internal Server Error 500 I’ve been getting on Firefox? (I am still waiting to hear back from Network Solutions)

CONFIRMED: error reproduced on multiple different Firefox instances each running on a respective computer. I tried another computer running Firefox (3.6.3). I was eventually able to replicate the error as above. I suppose I still have Firefox 4.0 b5 to try. I think there is also a safe mode to try.

I was going to suggest that. I’ve encountered the same problem on my work computer and home computer, but both have many of the same plugins/extensions. But a “fresh” Firefox or a different computer is worth checking out. I will try this out…

I contacted Network Solutions about this. We will see what lame answer they give me.

Another thing I want to add: not only does this seem to be browser specific (Firefox), but it seems to only happen when making multiple requests at once. I’ve been trying for the last couple hours where if I only do one request at a time (e.g., opening 1 link at a time), everything will load successfully.

Another interesting twist is that this also logs me out and asks me to re-log in. So I either get the Internal Server 500 Error and then on the next re-load, I have to log in, OR I’m simply logged out and asked to log in.

What would be the best/easiest way for me to view the error logs so that I can post it here?

    (I have Firebug installed.)

None of those common solutions work.

I almost forgot to mention I’m running WP 3.0.1 if that wasn’t assumed already.
