Thanks for the update and yes you were right I had made changes that I had totally forgotten I did. I did a poor job of documenting them.
I tried the copying option of the 2 templates I changed to a plugin option and all seems okay as they show in Plugins and I activated them but they do not show up under templates.
Did I miss a step?
