Which older version do you recommend going to?
I implemented the [[ define( ‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’, true ); ]] fix by adding to wp-config.php which helped in getting a backup, but other issues soon started appearing, notably with the URL name and an endless backup kicked in. I have since removed the fix and updated to your latest version of backwpup and once again unable to backup.

Having a similar issue after upgrading to Genesis 2.0 and updating The Events Calendar plugin. Error on same line, 293, but slightly different warning:
