It’s an internal test server. The extra “http:” or in this case “https:” is probably the result of my implementation and not AI1EC. I’m using WP 4.5.3 on SME server 9.1 from Contribs.org with the plugin Root Relative URLs. Since AI1EC 2.5.7 is the only plugin (so far) exhibiting this behavior, I posted the issue to make sure it wasn’t something others were experiencing. My production server (same setup as my test server) uses AI1EC 2.3.4 and works as expected. Thank you.
