    Hi @ank01

Your query mentions a feature of our Pro plugin, and WordPress forum rules only allow us to discuss the Lite plugin here. Could you please open a ticket in our helpdesk about this, and our team will help you there: https://formidableforms.com/new-topic/?supportform=true

    Hi @janqdev

I apologise for the slow response – for some reason, we never received the email notification about your question!

Yes, based on your description, the setup you would like to build is supported, although a Business license or above of the Pro plugin would be required to meet all of your needs.

Our Quiz Maker add-on allows for easy scoring of quizzes, although if your needs are very complex, you also have the option to manually score for even more flexibility.

Our plugin is designed from the ground up for compatibility with mobile devices, and should work perfectly on IOS devices – and any other devices you might need it for.

WordPress forum rules mean that we’re not allowed to discuss/promote the paid versions of our plugin here, so if you have any follow-up questions, could I please ask you to open a presale ticket in our helpdesk here – just ask the chatbot to talk to a human: https://formidableforms.com/new-topic/

    Best,
    Nathanael.

    Hi @phrasewrite

In Formidable, there isn’t a standard back-end “Mark as Spam” action for entries like some other form plugins provide, but we offer a host of alternative options focused on protecting your sites from spam.

Do you currently have a CAPTCHA solution set in your forms? We support several options, including Google reCAPTCHA, hCAPTCHA, and Cloudflare Turnstile, so you can choose whichever works best for your site. https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/add-spam-protection/#kb-captcha

Even with reCAPTCHA installed, manual spam can still occasionally get through. We have even been the victims of manual spam attacks that can’t really be prevented with most automated spam protection.

If there is a common email, phrase, link, or word in the spam that is getting through, you could check out the following options:

    • JavaScript Anti-Spam Token: Built-in protection that generates a unique token for your site, effective for 24+ hours and great for protecting file uploads from spam as well.
    • StopForumSpam API: You can activate this feature, which checks email addresses and IP addresses against this regularly updated spam database to block known spammers before they can submit.
    • Custom Disallowed and Allowed Words: Create your own denylist and allowlist of terms. Our system can block thousands of spam terms while allowing exceptions for legitimate content that might otherwise be flagged.
    • WordPress Comment Blacklist: Formidable Form can automatically check all submissions against WordPress’s built-in disallowed comment keys.

There are additional layers of spam protection you can add—Akismet works well for us. I have also heard good things about the anti-spam plugin by Cleantalk.

These tools are all documented here: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/add-spam-protection/

Hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions on this.

    Hi @violetness26

Since this was confirmed to be an issue with WP Engine Caching rather than a bug in our plugin, would you consider revising your review? We work very hard to ensure all our users have a 5-star experience!

    Hi @roos72

Since your SMTP plugin shows the email is sent correctly, and sent only once, this confirms the issue is not caused by Formidable Forms – but I am happy to continue investigating with you.

To dive into this further, I will need screenshots of the settings for your email action and the email admin email address set in your WordPress settings. Would you be able to open a ticket in our helpdesk via this form and upload your screenshots there please? https://formidableforms.com/new-topic/?supportform=true

I’ll continue to assist via our helpdesk.

    Hi @roos72

The email being listed only once in WP Mail SMTP is a big clue. This means that only a single email is being sent, and it is being split in two by Internet mail servers after it has been sent.

Splitting a message into two is a common form of sanitising emails that are flagged as spam. This process still sends all the information, but splitting it into two breaks any active links, rendering the content of each half safer.

To resolve this, we need to stop your messages from being flagged as spam, and make them look more legitimate.

To begin, please note that Formidable Forms does not send emails directly, but rather composes the message and passes it to WordPress for sending. Therefore, troubleshooting issues with email delivery requires checking your WordPress email-sending configuration.

It’s important to ensure that your email messages are configured correctly. Here are eight essential things to check:

    • The SUBJECT line should not be blank.
    • The FROM address MUST match the domain of your website. It’s best to set up a dedicated email for this, such as [email protected].
    • The TO address should never match the FROM address as this looks unusual and can trigger spam deletion.
    • If you specify a REPLY-TO address, it should never match the TO address.
    • While you can include multiple addresses in your TO field, it’s best to use the CC and BCC fields for additional recipients.
    • Many spam filters are triggered by too many recipients in one email. For large lists (50 or more recipients), consider a service like Sendgrid or SendInBlue.
    • Minimize the number of links you include. Email messages with lots of links may trigger spam filters.
    • Finally, contact your hosting provider and ask if the SPF record for your email address is properly configured.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Hi roos72,

I’m sorry you’re running into this. If the emails are arriving twice, the most common cause is that the form’s email action is being triggered more than once.

    What to check first

Open your form and go to Settings → Actions & Notifications.

Look for your email notification action and check its trigger settings. If the same email action is set to run on more than one event, Formidable will send it each time that event happens.

For example, duplicate emails can happen when one email action is set to trigger on multiple events such as:

    • Entry is created
    • Entry is updated
    • Successful payment

If this is just a normal contact form, the email action should usually be set to only Entry is created.

Also check for duplicate email actions

In the same Actions & Notifications area, make sure there isn’t a second email action sending the same message to the same address.

If two email actions are configured similarly, both will send and it will look like the form is duplicating emails.

If those steps don’t help, can you let me know if entries are also being duplicated?
If you see double entries, this would point to a plugin/theme conflict.

If the entries are correct and there is no duplication, the next step is to install an email logging plugin. I personally use “Post SMTP” as this includes logging in the free version.
Once installed, submit an entry in your form and check the logs to see if two emails are logged, or only one.

If the logs show only one email, but two arrive in your inbox, let me know, and I’ll walk you through the steps to resolve that.

    Hello @slace10

Thank you for reaching out to us today. I’m Nathanael, and I’m here to assist you in any way I can.

To begin, please note that Formidable Forms does not send emails directly, but rather composes the message and passes it to WordPress for sending. Therefore, troubleshooting issues with email delivery requires checking your WordPress email-sending configuration.

In most cases where email issues are reported, we find that emails leave the website correctly but are sanitized or deleted before delivery by internet spam protection measures. Spam protection rules are constantly getting stricter, and a form can sometimes stop working without any changes on your website.

If you’re currently not using an SMTP plugin to send your emails, I highly recommend installing and configuring one. Most SMTP plugins will do the job, but I’d suggest looking for one that includes message logging. One such free SMTP plugin that I’m aware of is called “Post SMTP.”

Using SMTP to send your messages can make them appear more legitimate than the built-in WordPress mail service, which can help them pass spam filters.

It’s also important to ensure that your email messages are configured correctly. Here are eight essential things to check:

    Hi @muypescado

If removing the Captcha fixed the issue, this indicates that your pop-up plugin doesn’t have the functionality required to support this feature. Captcha is kinda important on many sites though, so I would recommend looking for an alternative pop-up solution.

Our devs recently released a free plugin that may suit your needs: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/simply-popups/

    Have a great day!

    (@njones35)

    Hi @muypescado

This is an odd one – and quite hard to investigate directly as your site structure is quite unusual, possibly due to caching.

What I can confirm is that your two forms have different IDs – having the same form published twice on a page does cause issues – but this doesn’t seem to be the case on your site. I have also tested a page on my dev site with multiple forms, and I cannot reproduce this issue myself. I suspect there is something unique to your site causing this. It may be as simple as your pop-up plugin not having the functionality needed to properly support our forms.

To help diagnose the issue and isolate its root cause, we recommend following the steps in this guide: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/what-plugins-are-known-to-cause-conflicts/#kb-how-to-find-a-conflict

We understand that testing like this on a live site can be challenging, so we suggest creating a copy of your site (a staging site) and performing the testing on that. You can create a staging site by copying your site using free plugins like All in One WP Migration or Duplicator, or by asking your host to create a staging site for you.

If you have any questions about this or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help.

    Hi @jamesgreat

If you want ONLY Stripe or Square Lite payments (with the 3% service fee), you can use the free plugin.

If you want to add PayPal payments (and also remove the 3% fee on Stripe/Square) you would need a Business level license of the Pro plugin.

If you also want to add Authorize.net payments, this is only available in the Elite plan.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this.

    @rhughes44

I hate to say it, but it sounds like your site is infected with malware. A Google search shows many other similar issues, like this: https://www.techradar.com/pro/security/major-website-hijacking-scam-sees-over-35-000-sites-attacked-redirected-to-gambling-sites-so-be-on-your-guard

This is not a Formidable Forms issue. An insecure/outdated theme or plugin could have been the entry point for this malware – “nulled” versions of premium plugins are often sources of infections too.

I would recommend using security/malware plugins along with any hosting level scans you have available to you in an attempt to resolve this.

    Best,
    Nathanael.
