The above solution did not work for me. After deactivating all plugins, and then reactivating NextGEN Gallery still missed some menu options so I could not even use the Reset Option.
It appeared that was problem with capabilities. I found solution that worked for my issue – I ran the script found on this page http://role-editor.com/nextgen-gallery-restore-lost-capabilities
Now everything works perfect
I set WP_MEMORY_LIMIT to 96M and checked inspector – there are no errors (in Chrome and Firefox). After clicking “save” button my virtue theme options have been erased and replaced with the default values.
I turned on debug mode in WordPress but it returned no errors
