Your solution is actually the first thing I tried and unfortunately it made it didn’t work like I would hope. For example if i changed the bg to black instead of transparent, all of my images were black instead of turning black when I hovered over the image.

I appreciate your input.I was looking for a solution for the basic compact album and the solution in the link I provided worked just fine for me.

Scroll down to @rakupa’s post… The creators of nextgen have stated that this quick fix does work.

Did you ever figure out a solution for this? I am dealing w the exact same problem which has thrown me completely for a loop on how to resolve this. I, too, noticed the thumbnails coming from a directory that doesn’t exist.
