Bitesize piece No. 1: Downloaded WordPress, changed .php sample file. Not even sure if I’ve put in correctly info I was given by webhost. Downloaded a Mac-friendly FTP program, since one suggested by webhost didn’t work. Using JFTP. In connecting, I get this series: <REPLY> 220 Microsoft FTP Service

Then can’t ‘upload everything’ as instructed in 5 min install instructions. What am I doing wrong?

Okay, here’s the background…want to set up a website, want it to be google or yahoo searchable, therefore not sure if doing a blog on wordpress.com is the answer. Have a domain name and have a webhost. Now looking for way to get info into a simple format (pre-themed templates and such) and it was recommended that wordpress was the way to go (more than just a blog, was able to do separate pages too). Looked at the 5 minute installation. Can’t get it up. Would like to know about Mac specific installation, if there is such a thing. This is all new territory for me. If I could do it within the blog subculture, I would, but can I then make it available for search engines?
