Sorry, I found the problem. It has something to do with a plugin called “Category Visibility” which helps me to create individual home pages that can be modyfied by the blog owner without having to show home page articles in blog categories.
Hopefully we will find a way now to reinstall the feed archives by deactivating the plugin on this page.

There must be something wrong with your list attributes (ul – li – /li – /ul). Opening and closing seems not to be correct.
I do not like WYSIWYG editors, too. But may be it would be interesting for you to extend your existing WordPress editor?
I made use of that for one of my customers last week because he wants his users to be able to include tables into their posts. I hate that but these tools are not too bad. 😉
