Thanks for your input David! I amended the tooltips already after Jenny luckily pointed me in the right direction, but I will look into the changes of the latest version of your plugin…

OliverYay, you made my day Jenny! 🙂 Many thanks for pointing in me in the right direction, adjusting these did solve my “issue” indeed.
I really should start looking into code with a piece of software like Sublime Text 2 in order to get the “coloured” output – even though my head hurts a bit now… 🙂
While browsing through the PHP file I also got a better understanding of the entire structure and even may look into the counter issues myself with the help of some forum entries.Thanks again Jenny and all the best!

Quite difficult to find something without any dodgy or at least questionable things involved while offering a decent range of customization options…Btw, your site looks amazing! I only noticed now… You are not using the plugin on your site, right!? I really hoped to get another impression of the plugin in action…
Another thing if this is not too cheeky, but you don’t happen to have an idea for this one, do you!?

I just stumbled across your post and wondered if you still have the same problem!?
I had a similar issue actually and my workaround was to open (“edit”) the images from the media library, copy the “image URL” from there (upper right hand side) and paste it into the share buttons settings for the according social media channel. This should do the trick…
