It appears the Access Manager plugin’s .htaccess file info was changed during the automatic upgrade to 3.0.
De-activated this plugin and the Pages return normally again.

I re-started my browser and the [L] has disappeared. However, each page (accessed by clicking links) now returns “Sorry you have no rights to view this page!”
Any suggestions are appreciated!
UPDATE: Logging in as Admin returns the Pages with the [L] characters attached to the Page Tile.
