Many thanks for helping with this. I have brought this information to the hosting provider and they fixed the issue. It seems like something was blocking the xmlrpc file (I am not sure exactly what they did).
Jetpack was now able to connect and I can see the subscribers again. It seems like it is working now, so you can close this.

Thank your for a quick reply. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Jetpack, but the issue remains the same.
Any other ideas?
