Okay, I went the long route and disabled all used plugins one by one (well, rather always 4 at a time). WP Healthcheck was the culprit. Upon deactivation the normal behaviour came back.

Hey, Pepe @anastas10s thanks for your answer. Sorry for the belated reply I caught covid this week…

Just want to point out again that it’s not only the Product Short Description, it’s all types of boxes that don’t react to clicking their expand arrow. Sometimes you can even collapse a box but upon clicking the arrow it just won’t expand again.

Oh boy, but now I read through the reviews of the newer PayPal plugin. It seems terrible and not working at all! I might wait until 2022 after all…

@rainfallnixfig Thank you, that is a very valid point. That is two and a half months already of no updates. I wasn’t aware of that actually, thought it will only not be updated next year…

But since pretty much any “random” issue like this stemmed from a plugin in the past I think this is my best bet. I will change to the new PayPal payment plugin. Thanks for your suggestion.

For now it looks like it’s only PayPal. I have also opened a ticket with them but no info yet.

And thank you, I know about the ending support for PayPal Checkout. Was also wondering if it has anything to do with that…

Thanks for taking the time to explain this to me. Here are the four screenshots covering all four tabs of my tax settings:

I have found in the meanwhile that the shop also has a plugin installed called “Tax Display by Country”. I will check if this is the culprit because to me it looks like the tax settings in the above screenshots really doesn’t look like it would create problems.

As a little side note, I took over this shop from someone who doesn’t work at my current workplace anymore. So I am myself guessing around a bit with everything.

I have now made two identical orders and actually no, I cannot recreate this behaviour. In both orders both items appear without tax as the ex VAT price.

I didn’t mention this specifically in my opening post but the price of the one item before VAT appears already as if with VAT. So both items have €0,0 as their VAT but the one item has a Cost which represents the price with VAT.#

Is there any specific way I should try to recreate this order? I always entered first billing, then shipping address. Then created the order, then added the items. Already upon adding the items I could see the correct price (without VAT and no VAT added).
