I figured out the problem by disabling every plugin and trying to upload. I could upload SVG with the SVG support plugin only enabled until I enabled my OceanWP theme. It turns out that the OceanWP theme has introduced their own SVG support which broke this SVG support plugin. I just enabled the OceanWP SVG support option.
I’m beginning to think it is. NO answers for a long time. The account for Benbodhi on Github doesn’t seem to be active, and the repo’s last update was 9 years ago.

Same problem here. Plugin has been installed and working for years, but recently has stopped working with the “Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type” error when I try to upload SVG in the media tool.
