You missed the mark on your goal.
Your update broke drag-to-upload functionality.
You can’t upload within a category and automatically assign all those uploads to that category anymore.
You reduced our functionality by removing the ability to assign categories to media in the media library – we now have to individually navigate to every single new file and manually assign the category from the attachment page.
Rather than keeping with familiar WP core styling, you moved to your own styling featuring an incredibly aggressive banner pandering for users to give you money to return to the functionality you once provided for free.
You are leveraging data association that sites have built with your plugin until now with a money-grab tactic that developers see right through.
The new features you added serve no use to my team or any of our clients. You are adding bloat to what used to be a simple and straightforward plugin. I didn’t download your plugin to bulk download my media. I downloaded it just to categorize it.
Congratulations on destroying any good will you had built with this plugin until this point. I will be uninstalling from all sites I control, all my client sites, and migrating to another solution.
I cannot in good faith recommend using this plugin anymore, nor any plugin from this development team given the nature of this change in direction.
Agree with your take. I am also uninstalling this plugin after the latest update.
We haven’t noticed improved performance – in fact, our media pages seem to load much slower than before. It also now takes longer to categorize our media as we can’t bulk update by default, or assign categories from the media page as we used to.
The design of the plugin has diverged from WP core styling and now prominently features aggressive banners pandering for way too much money to do what the plugin used to do out of the box.
I can’t speak on better compatibility for modern WordPress, but you ruined our media library experience in Classic. Was it worth it?
