In reply to: How to install wordpress completely locally?Thank you for replying.
As I understand it; WAMP includes Apache, MySQL etc.
My question was what changes do I need to the installation script to load my existing (live) site onto a local host in order to keep the existing setting.s

In reply to: How to install wordpress completely locally? Please forgive me if I am going slightly off-topic.
I already have a live website (theunituk.org.uk) which I am closing down having cancelled my contract with my web host. It will cease to be online on the 24th December, 2018.
I have already done a full backup of files (public.html, etc) together with a backup of the database.
However, there is around 3.5 Gigabyte of articles stretching back over several years that I would like to keep for posterity and reference and as I have plenty of storage space on my computers, I would like to keep a working offline model of the website.
It is a few years since I installed the site using WAMP and have pretty much forgotten how I used it. A quick glance at the WAMP website suggest that I will have to alter their script in order to use it to reinstall a ‘working’ site locally.
I would appreciate it if someone could give me an indication of what alterations I need to make.

In reply to: My site admin passwords have been hacked and changed.Thank you very much for your help Steve. I am now back into my website admin.
My ISP Support opened a new account using another email address and password. However, I have multiple passwords and usernames listed in my Browser Password Manager and would like to delete as many as possible except for the new account and those for my other two administrators for which I shall issue new, more intricate, passwords.
Would deleting the others, including the one with which I opened my WordPress account affect my access to WordPress facilities? Is there a way of re-registering if it is a problem?

In reply to: MY SCREEN RESOLUTION HAS CHANGED SPONTANEOUSLYThank you Steve,
that did the trick though I am surprised that only the website was affected as the rest of my Chrome pages were fine.I was not aware of the zoom facility but I shall bear it in mind if it should occur again.

In reply to: Hacking 'Smart Countdown FX'Apologies for not replying Alex. I did not receive an email notification of your second post.
Thank you very much for your explicit answers to my question. I have absolutely no experience in coding or for web page authoring for that matter. I have had to rely on good people like yourself that so generously publishes widgets and plugins for us and hope that I can find the right plugin for the function that I require.

In reply to: Hacking 'Smart Countdown FX'Thank you very much Alex.
I had an idea that the solution would be along those lines when I used the ‘Edit’ function on the installed plugins page. Can I do the alterations on that page or would I need to go to the file in my public.html folder?
One other observation; when testing the widget to see what would happen when the event had occurred, I noticed that the countdown was one hour behind ‘computer’ time and had to reset both timers to one hour earlier on my site.
That aside, it is a really useful widget and you have my congratulations and thanks. If you should update the widget, would it be possible to hide the clock on countdown and show an announcement such as ‘time’s up’ or something similar when the event time is reached?

In reply to: Why do I not get images with my new posts on the opening page? Thanks once again for replying. I bought the pro version of Quick Images I bought the pro version because it had an option to select the first available image in a post which worked fine when I was developing the site off-line. but the, just before I uploaded to my host server, I upgraded wordpress to the latest version.
However, online, it did not work automatically. The author told me that I would have to reconfigure after uploading. At the same time, I upgraded the plugin to the latest version. It still would not work automatically and so all I can think of was that the author was a trifle ambitious in his claim that it would work with the latest version of WordPress. I could have saved myself 14.99 Euros. At least I can load the preferred image manually now.
Just for your information, when a fellow administrator tried to load the admin facilities on a different computer, it would not work. He only got the normal page. My host support said that the Cerber plugin was at fault. I disabled that and now we can both use the admin facilities. So if anyone else has the same problem, and they have Cerber installed, you know what you can tell them.

In reply to: Why do I not get images with my new posts on the opening page?Hello Ines,
thank you for replying.I apologise if I made my first post in the wrong place. My on-line site is themed ‘Hueman’ but the problem occurs in both.
I actually unloaded that plugin from my on-line site and it appears to make no difference. In fact, it has never been loaded on my off-line construction and so, cannot be the source of the problem by itself.
