So far, domain mapping is working fine in every respect except specifically when the user logs out…
WordPress needs those subdomains for its own purposes, to make the multi-site / network configuration function correctly.
However, if you want to associate totally different domains to your sub-sites, use the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin.
