In reply to: Wanna Help Find A Hacker???I think I found a solution to the problem. I was running Microsoft FTP which from my understanding is very insecure. I’ve heard it doesn’t encrypt passwords or files during transfers. Anyway, I disabled the Microsoft FTP early this morning, and so far, none of the file permissions have been changed from my settings.
I would appreciate suggestions about a new Secure FTP. Here’s a link to the ones my Webhost provides:

Input would be appreciated.

In reply to: Wanna Help Find A Hacker???Thanks whooami, I will update to a secure version of wordpress and see what information my Web Host can provide. Thanks to you and Moshu. When I recently updated to WordPress 2.2, I followed the link in my Cpanel to update. I didn’t realize it was an unsecure version. My issue is that even after changing passwords, someone is accessing my Cpanel and changing the persmissions, mainly the permissions to my mail, trash, and paulaswalk.com folders and .cpanel-logs folder. Would having an insecure version of WordPress allow someone access to my Cpanel? I thought that was two separate things.

In reply to: Wanna Help Find A Hacker???I’m concerned. Someone is accessing my cpanel. I followed Moshu’s advice and changed my file permissions. This morning when I accessed my file manager, I was shocked to find some of the file/folder permissions had been changed from my settings two days ago. Also, the “raw logs” files have been messed with too. If you go to my Cpanel and check out the blue “logs” folder, the following paulaswalk.com-ftp_log-Apr-2007 has been deleted and there is not one for March, April or May of 2007.
My concern is that I had a person working on my site and gave them access to my Cpanel, FTP and WordPress Admin panels. I believe they figured out how to access my Cpanel and FTP. I made the suggested file permission changes and even changed my passwords to Cpanel, FTP and WordPress, and somehow these file permissions have been messed with…
I don’t mean to be a bother, but I am VERY concerned. Any thoughts or suggestions? I sent an email to my Web Host asking for backups of the ftp logs for March, April and May, hoping I can see who is (by IP address) accessing my Cpanel and making these changes.

In reply to: Wanna Help Find A Hacker???Thanks Moshu,
Went in and made the suggested changes. Some of the permissions were set to 600, 750, anyway, just different then what you suggested. If “that person” was getting in and messing with my site, maybe that’s how. If you have any further suggestions, let me know.
Thanks!!!

In reply to: Wanna Help Find A Hacker???Moshu,
How do I check for the permissions regarding this “(i.e. the permissions should be 644 for files and 755 for folders)”. By the way, I seem to be getting more comments, one from someone who couldn’t recently. I did delete the folder with “that person’s name”.
Thanks,
Paula

In reply to: Bizarre Comment Issue – Help!I did but it didn’t change, argh! I had to back up the design and delete it from my theme folder then my site went back to the classic default. Don’t know what the issue was with that one?

In reply to: Bizarre Comment Issue – Help!Would having the following box in my admin checked make any difference? I currently have it checked. Blacklist comments from open and insecure proxies.
