Since this was posted I took a lot of feedback and changed things around a bit. I would appreciate any feedback on it’s current state. Thank you very much!

I was having the same issue, works now, though, like everyone else, I don’t know why.

I like the site alot! You have so much information, but in my opinion, the site doesn’t look cluttered. Awesome job!

I think it looks professional and very nice. My only criticism would be to just use one column of Google ads instead of two. you don’t want to overwhelm the user with ads where links to more content should be.

From a design standpoint, it looks very nice and organized, and it fits the point of your site. Good job!

I think it looks pretty good. It has a nice minimalist approach, vivid large text. If you could add some images to accompany each post, it would spice it up and draw readers in more.

    In any case, good job!

@njuptsoz if you mean that the sidebar and the main content area doesn’t line up, that should be happening in all browsers, because that is how it it supposed to look. On the single post page, however, it should be one solid piece.

If this isn’t what you’re talking about, please let me know.

    @ Scarecrow:

    Thanks for your kind words!
yes, it’s supposed to be disjointed. It was kind of a last minute idea that I decided to keep in. I’ll probably redesign the footer eventually. I have a few ideas for changing the site around a bit graphically. I’ll probably be making it wider as well.

Thanks again for saying nice things about my design.

What are the little logo things for?

Well, using the custom fields, I can add a little image to go along with each post. If I don’t specify an image, it defaults to the ‘PJ’ icon. All my old blog posts didn’t have an image associated with them.

Thank you, Chrisber and Evita. I agree with the calendar, I just wanted something that was future-proof in the sense that as time goes by, the sidebar wouldn’t get longer and longer with a list of Years and months of posts. I guess I’ve already staved that off by having an ‘Archives’ link, but I also think the calendar table offsets the list after list after list look of the sidebar. I agree with making the main content section a little wider though. Good call.

Thank you, I think it’s simple looking also, and I like to think it’s clean looking, but some of my homies think it looks cluttered or too complicated. I don’t agree, so that’s why I thought I would get some feedback.

I fixed the XHTML also, thanks for noticing that. I’m surprised I didn’t notice it. =)

@dkin75 – Thanks, I appreciate that! I’m glad you liked it.

    @jackosh and Tignarius – Hmmm…
Yes, sometimes I agree with you. I’ve tested the site on LCD and CRT monitors, and they both look fine when the settings have been calibrated. Sometimes when I’m reading over my posts after I’ve posted them, I feel the same way, that the text is too ‘bright’.

But I like the way white text looks on this design more than I like the grey text, even just slightly grey text.

I will try to find a happy balance, but until then, thank you very much for your feedback. It helps to know that I need to spend more time focusing on the text color.

    Hi Ali,

Thank you very, very much for the positive feedback, it really means alot to me just to get any feedback, but it really feels great to know that people, such as yourself like my design.

As far as your design goes, I’m going to be blunt and honest, only because I’m sleepy right now. 😉

Pros: I love the layout, and the features and content that are offered on your site. The Ajax on the site prefs moves very fluidly in firefox, at least. Basically as far as content and ease of navigation and layout are concerned, I think it’s awesome.

Cons: I’m not crazy about the color scheme. The font colors are fine, cant go wrong with black and white, but the orange and purple dont do it for me. If these colors must be used, like if they are the theaters official colors or something, consider using them sparingly on a more neutral background, like black or white. Orange and purple are very strong colors, and they can overwhelm your design if used too often. I’m also not crazy about the logo graphic, I think more time should be spend making it look smoother in photoshop or gimp. It and the text looks pixelated around the edges. The header graphic is very important to get just right.

So basically tweak the color scheme and those graphics, and you’ve got a very lovely site. Excellent work, I know it must have taken a long time to make because there is alot of content there, and you did an excellent job of laying all of that content out.

This is all just my opinion, I am not a professional, so take what I say with grain of salt. Get more people’s opinion, and see if anyone has anything else to add.

    Good job, good luck.

Wow Kernkraft, thank you for that awesome feedback, much appreciated!

To make a link using wordpress’s rich text editor, do this:

    1. type the word or words you want to make a link
    2. Highlight the word or words with your cursor like you’re going to copy and paste
    3. Click the ‘link icon’ and fill in the information

that should make the link work properly.

If it doesnt, please post a fully detailed step-by-step of how you are attempting to make links show up.

    Good luck
