OK, I installed Elementor. After that editting the page, and tataaa: there it was again, the choose from template option.

No, just in the page edit I used to choose from a template; for this particular page I choose an empty page template; now it’s not possible anymore.

Same problem here, cannot choose a different template anymore for a particular page…! Theme is just twenty seventeen.
