OK, so I went to setcronjob.com and set up the cronjob as per here Hey presto – it works.
Paid my subscription – cheaper than time spent sorting the real problem;-) Need to do some reading on this:-)

It’s a live site with plenty of “traffic” but as it’s not a blog there are ZERO posts – unless I can get postie to work;-)

Thanks for the link – I had tested postie and got an all good result (see below). If I run postie manually it works fine.
I am a newbie here so the rest of your link re cron jobs is a bit scary;-) But I guess that I may need to go there!Postie is in /home/sites/xxxxxxxxx.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/postie/
Cron: On
Alternate Cron: Off
iconv: installed
imap: installed
mbstring: installedClock Tests

Same problem here – installed 1.6.3 in WP4.0 and everything works fine EXCEPT postie does not fetch mail automatically:-(
Manual fetch and postie tests all work well.
Any ideas?
