Thanks Automattic. It looks like the issue has now been resolved.
I’ve been reading elsewhere that changing to a different WordPress theme from this P2 theme allows article content to be viewed properly in addition to the article titles.
Hopefully someone from Automattic is tracking bugs on the P2 theme.
Perhaps there was a small regression in this change. Our users noticed that the “Add media” button has been removed from our usual process:
Adding a pdf is a two-step process — 1) upload the file to WordPress and 2) add the link the the uploaded file into your post. Here’s one way to add a pdf file to a new post.
STEP 1:
Click on “Add Media”.

This brings up a new screen to which you can add the pdf file. Click on “Upload File”:
