I have restored the site from yesterdays back-up and all is well. I have no significant activities logged that I think could have broken the Customiser. I did clone a page to run some firefox compatibility tests which is where I first noticed a background color had changed on the cloned page, I exited that page and then the site had all changed. Throughout the Global base color panel has shown DARK BLUE #0b3c5d even when the site background was rendering WHITE.
Thank you, good suggestion. I deactivated all plugins. emptied my browser cache. still get a canvas fingerprinting attempt. Of course, it could be a false positive from my browser plugin.
