Which version of Piwigo were you using previously?
With Piwigo 2.4 we have changed image URLs.
The good news is that in the latest versions of PiwigoMedia, the author has added support of “shortcode”, ie no more use of direct image URLs.

Did you configure PiwigoMedia? I mean the screen Administration > Settings > PiwigoMedia. You have to set at least one “Piwigo Site”. On my local copy (WordPress 3.0.1), I set “Piwigo Site” as http://www.annisworld.us/piwigo and it works fine.
