Added the second snippet and it worked like a charm! I’ll just have to remember to add this again whenever the theme gets updated. Will this (as an option) be built in to a future version?
In case anyone else is having this same issue, mine was because my google analytics property was set up as a “web + app” property. It has to be just “web” to be compatible.
