  • Oh how sweet and easy, thanks a million rugs wizzud
    Works like a charm already

    Hmm, may i butt in on this one as i just installed this wonderful plugin and ended up with the same trouble.

    Looking at my source code (of site http://klap.pe.hu/ ) i see there is CSS styles that have been applied to the shortcode output
    <div class="widget_custom_menu_wizard shortcode_custom_menu_wizard"><div class="menu-main-container"><ul id="menu-main" class="menu-widget " data-cmwv="3.1.3" data-cmws='{&quot;menu&quot;:3}'><li id="menu-item-23" class="menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page cmw-level-1 menu-item-23">
    But there’s no style sheet in the Plugins Editor, so i guess you must have used inline styles??

    Anyway, my theme has the option for custom styles, or maybe i could override the existing styles inline, adding style=”” to the shortcode??

    If you have the leisure, can you tell me (and whomever else might wanna know) what kind of inline or custom style i would have to write up to flip the menu to horizontal??

    That is a while ago, but still something i hope for an eventual solution from the developers end Joy…..
    So many Themes these days come in the new flexible forms that work on any device with any screenshot – and plugins should follow that trend eventually.
    I was never sure if the iPad etc. issue is caused by Flash or some other scripting piece, like Java or so, but certain is the Apple products with smaller than laptop screens have an issue with Shutter reloaded.
    I also agree, disabling is not the favorite solution, the plugin looks and works just to good for that….

    Interesting idea your work-around jh8001

    I just asked Andrew on his own site a day or 2 ago, no answer if he has any fix for the iPad / iPhone issue coming from the missing Flash on those Mac products – unfortunately no answer there.

    Isn’t there a solution to make this work as it does on Androids or any conventional pc for those specific Mac toys rather than having to reinstall PHP code manually after each and every update – and those come as sure as the next Hurricane….

    I still don’t get this.
    WP 3.1 now has everywhere this hidden options stuff, i ask myself what for since the older way was just fine (??) Anyway, so i tick on the PAGES overview to show Comments, than i go into a certain page and also tick on Discussions – and okay, i now see the option fields for
    Kommentare erlauben.
    Erlaube Trackbacks und Pingbacks auf dieser Seite.
    (I run a german version but you know what this is anyway)
    And i tick “Allow Comments” ON – yet, the comments box still does not show on the front end of this particular page (while all blog POSTS still show the comments box), is this the mess that we all have to rotate around with every future WP update, in my case, is this now something that requires your code into functions.php of my Theme or else…..???

    Even my hoster begins to talk badly about WP updates, can’t they produce something that works without everybody having to scramble and hassle and spend endless hours to figure out how to fix things again, after all, the main idea, wasen’t it that simple people with no html knowledge just install it and start writing contents – now we all just chase our WP tales until eternity takes us home or what??

    Thanks for the fast answer, in fact i was 2 seconds faster finding out that if there is no “wp-caption” section in a style sheet i have to look for “img” and there for either a solid border color or a background color!

    no wp-caption
    in any style sheet of my Theme, where could i alternatively find something that makes the caption or thumbs background??
    P.S. my Theme uses something called “prettyPhoto” but i have no clue if this applies to any of the posts images at all nor can i find anything related to my issue in that style sheet either
    Example page; http://presseroo.co.cc/blog/wordpress-applications/

    Thread Starter presseroo

    (@presseroo)

    Yes i can!
    It is http://buycelergen.cz.cc/
    and i have currently one post published: http://buycelergen.cz.cc/buy-celergen/
    and this goes as mentioned right back to the main page, and i sure am puzzled because that is not the way i know WordPress, just no clue how or what i may have ticked on to have this happening (all pages work fine, just the blog entry redirects to main)

    Thread Starter presseroo

    (@presseroo)

    Yes, of course i have the STATIC HOME PAGE selected to be the front page
    – but i never noticed this means posts redirect automatically to it, even from within the admin panel when i click on “view post” or even when i copy the link and paste it into a browser window !!
    That’s the problem, in other words, no posts can be opened any way i try!!

    Sorry for the late answer, i caught the flu, and my lappy an HD collapse, so i had to spend the weekend COMPUTERLESS – what a life that is!
    Yep, i figured it also out, custom menu, i just could not find it because the Theme i chose did not have it built in already, but instructions on coding it in, so i can only say thanks for guiding me through the multi user setup process successfully.

    Oh, and now the silly question of the day – how can i put each new site into my main sites MENU ??
    Looks tricky.
    The way i started to try is amateurish
    http://freelancer.0fees.net/
    that – i hope – can’t be it.
    Menu point
    “Drivers” should not link to anything, but sub menu point “King” or “Queen” should lead directly to the respective sites
    , how could i possible implement this??

    Thanks for the info again Andrea.
    I did get the CSS plugin you mentioned and i see what you mean, it gives me basically a seperate new CSS code sheet to overide or add whatever to the existing Theme CSS, and this individually for each site, that’s great for someone like me who always goes right into the Themes style sheet and edits things in there, even though i know i get into trouble with that in case of a Theme update…..

    So far so good, but – talking of header images, where do i place the images that are specifically used in one of the added sites but not the main sites (exactly such as different header images for each site)??

    Example as is at present:
    In my main sites Theme CSS i have

    #header{

    height:278px;
    width:100%;
    overflow:hidden;
    background: #000 url(images/rtb-cart-top-logo.jpg) repeat-x top left;

    }

    In my subfolder additional user site i added

    #header {
    height:278px;
    width:100%;
    overflow:hidden;
    background:#000 url(‘images/head.jpg’) repeat-x top left;
    }

    into the CSS Stylesheet Editor
    NO IMAGE SHOWING, no real surprise, as the image is in the main sites Theme – oh, i got it, in such cases i have to use the full URL / path tothe image, yep, that works, so we’re all done installing the new multi user WP, kind of fun.

    Just at the end i’d like to ask you the question i kept on asking myself;
    Is this the way to go (the multi user WP installation i mean) to run a sports club site that gives each team member his own blog / pages and independant Admin login /area – or would some Role management with only a single WP site set up have been a more elegant or leaner way to achive the exact same thing???

    (i did initially try and research stuff with plugins to a single WP site like
    members
    restrict-categories
    role-scoper
    capsman
    just could not grasp how all these could be used to restrict each club member to his blog or page and see nothing else in his Admin area and have his own blog, not just a “category within one single blog for all”)

    Thread Starter presseroo

    (@presseroo)

    Oh hello,
    i got it, i found it at the very bottom of
    http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Create_A_Network
    i also had to change the .htaccess
    and apparently i also had to
    Enable administration menus Plugins tick this ON.
    There is one final question i have not yet found the answer for though:
    At present i have “king” and “queen” on the WP default Theme, not on the same Theme i use for the main page – oh, it looks like i have to change the user role from Editor to Administrator for “king” and “queen” and go into each of the sites Admin and activate the Theme i want to use wow, you just talked me into it……

    Now the final step of this entire process, the grand ol idea would of course be to be using the same Theme for the entire site with each Racing Team user – but give each team member his / her own top header image!
    Currently the additional sites use apparently the exact same Theme / style sheet of the Theme as main site, hence the top header image is on each site the exact same, how can i change this??
    (Even logged into “king” as Administrator does not show me access to the Themes files)….

    Is the only way to achieve this the old fashioned style sheet hack like

    body.page-id-7 {

    background-image: url(‘somesite/sometheme//images/someimage.jpg’);

    background-repeat:no-repeat;

    background-position:left top;

    background-color:#00040e;

    }

    body.page-id-16 {

    background-image: url(‘somesite/sometheme//images/someotherimage.jpg’);

    background-repeat:no-repeat;

    background-position:left top;

    background-color:#00040e;

    }

    – where probably “page-id-..” would have to be replaced by something else???

    Thanks a bundle for the info.
    I already did do the
    define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, false );
    thing, at first a bit of another surprise no one told me of, now i found the 2 previously installed but not working sub domains simply changed into / meaning i had 3 sites but all pointed to the main URL!!!!

    Anyway, i could figure that (partly i guess) out myself, i simply added 2 new sites, and this time they where created as subdirectories correctly.

    But,
    http://freelancer.0fees.net/king/
    and
    http://freelancer.0fees.net/queen/
    are at present without a Theme attached to them, what is missing here??
    And eventually even more curious to me,
    how does “king” or “queen” login to their respective sites please??
    I tried to simply add
    http://freelancer.0fees.net/king/wp-admin
    but that is a “not found” result, i tried to use the main Admin login and use the pwd and usr name for either, king or queen, but i ended up in the actual main Admin where all the posts and pages of the main site where showing – instead of nothing as there was for each of the new sites, how is this to explain / do so that king only gets logged into his castle and queen into hers and nothing else???

    P.S.
    Nope, installing this multi site thing is not really complicated, the complication comes in exactly at situations like mine, where things don’t go as supposed to according to the instructions, in other words, the unexpected issues are what gives it a certain learning curve, but that is exactly what i am testing this for, to learn it, also if things do not go as expected – and maybe your answers (hopefully to still come) can be of good use for others that come across the same issues with WP multi users installations??

    Thanks Samuel,
    i stumbled last night also over the Role Scoper, but the Plugin has a yellow note to it saying “Not enough data” (on whether it will work with WP 3.01), always a bit risky to install such and maybe it turns theentire WPinstallation upside down??
