Someone marked this as resolved, but as Maybellyne pointed out, she doesn’t think it’s a Yoast problem, so you really can’t say it’s resolved–instead, it’s “not a support problem.”
If anyone stumbles on this and wants to know what I’ve been doing to address the issue…
I’ve been using the url inspection tool in Google Search Console to review each page, test the live url, and ask that it be indexed again. This is working, but Google has a limit of 10 such requests per day, so it will take a while to work through in this manner.
Thank you, Maybellyne, but no. Google says I did not specify a canonical–you can see that in the image I posted. But that is not true–you can see in the source code that I did specify a canonical as shown in the header code generated by Yoast. Instead, Google is using the home page as canonical. This makes no sense, as the content is completely different–it is not anything close to a duplicate. Google is just calling it a duplicate because it has chosen a different canonical. If I were to specify an explicit canonical via the advanced Yoast setting for each post, I would just use exactly the same thing Yoast is including.
There’s a problem somewhere. I think you may provided a response without looking at the details of my page and info I shared from Google.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] SSL, multisite, domain mappingSince my original post, I have spoken with support at Bluehost. They believe that I’ve done everything correctly but there is an issue with the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plug-in (or at least my implementation of it), which they don’t support. They believe that the basic issue is that I need to have purelylawyergifts.com mapped to purelylawyergifts.purelybrands.com (so that when someone types purelylaywergifts.com in their browser address bar they end up at purelylawyergifts.purelybrands.com), but they believe the plug-in is set to do the opposite.
I can’t seem to add a screenshot of my current settings for the plug-in, but if I could perhaps this would help others to diagnose my problem.
