Uploads seem to be fine. I just created a folder called omgf in the wp-content folder. No problems doing that.

I’ll pressing save and optimise again, see if it writes anything in there.

James – just so you have full information.

I got it to work. But then it broke again :'(

So, I just tried deactivating iThemes Security, Site Kit works. Reactivate iThemes Security, Site Kit still works. But it does still say “Analytics Gathering Data” and “Search Console Gathering Data” which seems odd, since the site has been running a few days now. So it would appear that for some reason, it’s not properly linking to the site. But I do get the All Users, Traffic at a Glance graph.

It’s very odd. It’s as if over time, it gets stuck on something. But it does seem to be iThemes that’s causing the clash.

Interesting – had the same issue “Data error in Analytics”

So followed through this thread. Went into troubleshooting mode – enabled just Site Kit – and it worked. Enabled iThemes security next – it still worked. Exited troubleshooting mode – guess what – it still works….

Therefore I’m not sure why it wasn’t working before, but going through that procedure seemed to fix things.

Just checked a couple of other blog posts and the images are all there fine. So it’s something to do with these images, that were newly uploaded today. Same size as I always upload – 2000px on long edge. They all go through ShortPixel optimiser plugin as they upload. But generally that’s pretty quick.

Does it have something to do with them not uploading to the CDN fast enough maybe?

    Thx Gijo

I tried disabling responsive images, but that didn’t fix it. However, the 2nd suggestion, changing lazy load to native only did fix things. I turned responsive images back on, that setting didn’t seem to upset the site.

Thx for the fix. Much appreciated.

Going to mention something else that was happening (but this also fixed it). When loading a blog page with a top image, text, then a lot of other images in a classic block. What I was seeing was the 3rd image and all others would load instantly. However, the top image and 2nd image wouldn’t load for ages. It was like a reverse lazy load. I’d have expected the top 2 to load first, the others after a delay. As I say, changing to native has fixed this too, but thought I’d let you know, as others might experience that.

It would be good if automatic Log-Out worked similar to Clef used to. So that you could set a time limit, 1,2,3 hours etc. after which it would log you out automatically. Great to see an app to replace Clef btw.

    Hi

Hallelujah – I’m in (at bl**dy long last) – worse than pulling my own teeth.

A couple of things I noted. Dave, in your first post, you mentioned trying to login to WordPress using the Database password. This is incorrect. The database pass in the config file is not the one you need to use. The password for WordPress is set during the install procedure, it has a page and asks you for a user name and password. At least – that’s what it is supposed to do.

In the end, I have been into phpMyAdmin about 50 times changing my password – and still could not get it to work. I watched the last link that esmi posted (thank you esmi). It does exactly what I was doing myself. However, one difference – small – but clearly significant and not clearly mentioned elsewhere.

In phpMyAdmin, when you change the password – that video shows putting the password in normal text (as password), then selecting MD5 from the pull down menu. On the next page it gives you the MD5 pass, which is a long string of characters. You’d think that this was the pass? NO. Its not! I tried logging in using that, it doesn’t work. On the video, it appears that he only types in a few characters, as if he’s typing the word “password” again. So I tried that.

Guess what – it works! I’m in.

Makes no logic to me whatsoever but it works. I even used the word password – so I was doing exactly the same thing. Now I need to try another word/phrase, but presumably it will work. I’ll report back if it doesn’t.

Just to let you know Dave – you’re not alone. I’m doing my first install of wordpress – and have been stuck on that email thing. I’ve done it twice, but I get no email. I don’t know how it is meant to send it – but its not working.

I’ve got stuck at various stages of the “simple 5 step installation”

Currently, I have been logged in to the blog – but then cannot log in again. I am getting totally frustrated with the whole experience. I don’t know if there is a problem with my host (my site loads fine) a problem with the config (and yet I’ve managed to be logged in at some point today – twice), I really don’t understand it all. Just logged into this forum – to see if I can find any pointers. Nice to see someone else is having the same email problem. Its not just me then.
