    Hi Shawn,

Thank you for your thorough response. Due to some trial and error space cowboy madness I have really mucked this up beyond these simplifications (though it does seem user friendly for those who walk in with all this in mind). Allow me to try to lay this mess out clearly and hopefully you can help me save a bit of my hair from being pulled out by the end of this week.

I read your message over and took a look at the Channel Creation video (made by Todd Cochran, for clear point of reference), but this was after I began the process of mucking up these works.

After attempting to use the “Category” function on PowerPress (this was before your response, apologies I jumped forward because I thought I knew what I was doing!) I believed I had done it (like, submitting the feed to different podcasting apps, including Blubrry which accepted it) and then I found it came up on my older podcast’s (from herein “Podcast 1″‘s) feed. Thus, making it clear, that despite having two different feed names, they were one feed, and that “category podcasting” is not the answer my needs as a podcaster.

So, I deleted everything, the post, everything, and switched over to playing with the “channel” function (though the Blubrry account section for new podcast [shared account with last podcast, different header and all that] is still active).

So, I started playing with the “channel” function that you’ve mentioned (and linked to the helpful video for) above. Considering that I am trying to have two totally individual podcasts presented on one website, this seems like the way to get an individual podcasting feed for each (as is articulated in said video).

So, I have the channel made for the new podcast (herein to be referred to as “Podcast 2”) just as the video described (created slug, put in info I’d like on iTunes, etc.) and Podcast 1 is under the default “podcast” heading, as was noted to be the norm.

The new feed generated by the channel-maker will “validate,” via the website provided on WordPress, but Blubrry wouldn’t accept it as there was no content within. I presume “category” in terms of blog posts is more for things on the WordPress end (vs. PowerPress), but even then when I go to my newly colored-by-channel-podcast media box it will only connect with the section of my Blubrry account attached to Podcast 1.

I did just grab the mp3 link that WordPress can generate when one uploads into the media library while writing this to attach in the new-color-channel-box for Podcast 2 and I posted that in a blog post (Categorized with WordPress’ category buttons for Podcast 2 that I still presume have nothing to do with PowerPress’ “category” [vs. channel] option). That allowed for the feed to update and be accepted on Blubrry, but there’s still no way that the “connect the media” button will populate with Podcast 2’s account vs. Podcast 1’s. Is this just something that never happens? Should I just be grabbing the media link from Podcast 2’s section rather than using the function within the blog post area? After all this I am really just scared of moving forward with any feed sharing for podcast apps etc. without some level of surety.

Is there some way to gain clarity here? Basically what I need here are two different blogs to create shownotes for two different podcasts on one website wherein there are two feeds that never interact with each other (there doesn’t seem to be a way to take the would-be teaser for podcast 2 off of podcast 1’s feed, but that’s the least of my problems, I suppose). The blog post bit might be simpler than I am thinking, so long as the “categories” option on WordPress has nothing directly to do with the “categories” option on PowerPress.

Also, please note, that during my dash to figure this out a feed was created that got to pod-catchers showing the show’s name and info, but without the episode as I deleted the blog post due to the confusion with the switch from “category” to “channel.” Not sure what the greater implications of that are…

TL;DR: Had Podcast 1; toggled the “Category Podcasts” function on PowerPress and posted Podcast 2’s teaser blog/episode; believed it was a proper feed and submitted to Blubrry, iTunes etc.; noted that it was posted on Podcast 1’s feed; aborted mission/deleted the evidence; toggled the “Podcast Channels” function on PowerPress; Noted that Podcast 1 is indicated as “default” and created new channel, slug, etc. for Podcast 2; began frantically writing all the info above in response to your response; created blog post for Podcast 2 placing the mp3 generated via WordPress’ library into the Podcast 2’s media box; now with podcast that feed generated via the “Podcast Channels” section Blubrry accepts feed in Podcast 2’s directory listing; went to upload the proper Blubrry link into the podcast post via the “Link to Media hosted on Blubrry.com” as I generally do when posting a podcast—but it seems like there can only be one feed connection at a time per site? Please advise. I am very unclear on the implications of all these changes to all podcast catchers. Please let me know if there’s some simple answer here!

The things I am hoping to learn here:
    1. Does the word “category” in terms of WordPress blog posts have some connection to the “Category Podcasting” in PowerPress?
    2. How exactly can I confirm that there are two separate feeds for these (using channels) so that Podcast 1’s feed doesn’t get populated with Podcast 2’s content.
    3. Will having posted Podcast 2 via the mutual feed and submitting it all around have a negative impact on getting these channels properly set up and maintaining the same name and image while podcasting?
    4. Am I overcomplicating this? I would certainly love as simple an answer to this madness as possible here.

As I am sure you can tell, I am getting a bit turned around on this and unfortunately, while Mike Dell was very pleasant, helpful, and responsive via email he can’t speak on the phone until next week… all during times where I will be unavailable due to my 9-5 (so help me Shawni wan, you are my only hope!).
