And just after posting I have a hunch that possibly provides some more useful information.

The theme offers a ‘Nice scroll bar’ option which was enabled. Disabling this makes scrolling smoother (i.e. no stuttery elements on the page) but there is still something odd going on as the sticky menu now behaves a strangely – it disappears during scroll, and usually reappears, but sometimes it doesn’t until I scroll up and down a bit….

    Cheers,

Thanks Marco – I’ve now managed to get the theme confirmed and have worked out a few kinks in that (one major self-inflicted one, and a few not so self inflicted). The theme does allow for custom CSS, and hopefully I’ll take a look at that juddery scroll issue early next week once I’ve got the structure sorted and know where I want the ticketing system to live.

I’m going to mark this thread resolved, and open a new one specific to the CSS if required to keep things clear.

    Thanks again,

    Richard

This might be theme related. I was ensuring all fields were completed – the subect and main body were free form text with random junk, and there were three drop downs (department, types and priority) that I had to select, and I picked randomly (interestingly I don’t think any defaults are preselected for the drop downs, that would be useful).

Anyway, after posting I decided somewhat spontaneously to have a look at a different theme, which has involved some significant rework during which I disabled the bridge.

When I re-enabled the bridge on the new theme, posting works. OK, the down side is that the new theme and the bridge collide in a different way, and if I now scroll the page when the Open a ticket form is showing, it is hugely ‘juddery’ and ‘shakey’ while scrolling, but is fine when you stop.

The final decision on theme I need to discuss with some other people shortly – so if I switch back I will test again for the original issue. If we stick with the new one, any ideas what I could do about the scroll issue, should I open a new thread?

Finally, on both themes, I wouldn’t mind reducing the height of the text edit window that is displayed for the body of the ticket – would this be easy to achieve?

    Thanks,
    R
