My main problem wasn’t with unicode issue. It was with the ‘can’t connect to database’ error message after restoring any past saves. (didn’t state that in my first message, sorry).

I was using php 7.3, but it seems to be conflicted with duplicator, so I reverted to 7.2 (sql is 5.6).
My main problem (appart from files with ‘é’, ‘è’, etc) is that none of my previous saves can be restored, I always have the ‘can’t connect to database’ error’ after the restoring process.
However, I upgraded to the new version of duplicator, and new saves can be restored.
Great plug-in, but I was a little angry that none of my previous saves can be restored.
