StudioPress figured it out. It had nothing to do with the child theme. I had to change the course setting from subscriber to none. Now it is accessible to everyone.

I do have one more question. How can I put in an instructor photo?

Here is the system report. Thanks for helping me, Thomas. Before I downloaded LifterLMS I contacted Studiopress. I asked for a compatible LMS plugin and Lifter was one they recommended. So, I hope it works. Let me know what I need to do.
