Certainly. We think you are on the right track with the theme compatibility.

It seems ClearFocus includes a version of prettyPhoto gallery lightbox which is operational on the album page you provided in addition to RPS Image Gallery. Since the two plugins are closely related, they likely will not play well together. You may be able to deactivate prettyPhoto within the theme options or by contacting the developer to find out how.

To the question of the settings appearing, we would ask you to verify that the latest version of the Redux Framework plugin is installed and active. RPS Image Gallery relies on this plugin to generate its options panel, though it will operate fine without, minus some of the nicer features.

Let us know what you find out and if you would like us to dig in further. Thanks!

We are going to go ahead and mark this topic as resolved. Give the latest version of RPS Image Gallery a try (v2.2.1) for some additional controls over image sizing when you set the gallery theme to “none”. This will rely on your theme for the gallery styling but still allow the slideshow functionality.

Not currently. You could possibly use one of the content options to get the result you want. If the post type supports an excerpt, you could enter the part of the original post you wish to appear when included. So the shortcode would look something like this:

    [rps-include post="500" content="excerpt"]

Hope it is a viable option for you.

We regret you are having trouble with the latest update and truly appreciate the five star rating. Would you mind posting a support thread with some details about your configuration (WordPress version, theme, plugins, URL) so we can assist? Thanks in advance.

Correct. As of version 2.0.0, the minimum required version of PHP is 5.3. So you have a couple of options.

    1. Ask your hosting provider to update your version of PHP to at least 5.3.0.
    2. Install the latest version just prior to 2.0.0 which is version 1.2.29.

Since you likely have FTP access to your site, simply delete the rps-image-gallery directory from the plugins directory, then upload version 1.2.29 using your preferred method.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

No problem at all. Acronyms trip everybody up at some point.

Yes, you would need at least PHP 5.3 to run RPS Image Gallery 2.0.0 or greater. However you can run RPS Image Gallery 1.2.29 without issue on PHP 5.0.

We were just speaking today about setting up a feature within the plugin which would let site administrators know of a compatibility issue before updating, and have a rough outline of it slated for a future release.

We do regret any trouble this has caused for you and hope you are able to get the PHP update done without much effort. Your host may be able to assist you with the PHP upgrade.

As it turns out, MySQL is not a factor with this particular error you are seeing. We need to find out what version of PHP you are running instead. Is that something you can easily get from your host?

Thanks for the kind words about RPS Image Gallery. In looking at line 1614 of RPS Image Gallery 2.1.6 we can see where there is a reference to a PHP namespace. We refactored RPS Image Gallery in version 2.0 to use object oriented programming and namespaces to make feature additions easier. Namespaces were introduced in PHP 5.3.0, so if you are running that version or greater it shouldn’t be a problem.

Could you check to see what version of PHP you are running?

If that is not the issue then we’ll do some more digging. Thanks in advance!

Glad RPS Image Gallery has been useful to you for such a long time! It seems the fancyBox script is not loading, which is expressed as a JavaScript error:

TypeError: $(...).fancybox is not a function

It may just be a matter of checking the compatibility and slideshow options in settings to make certain fancyBox is enabled. Try the following:

    1. Make sure you have the Redux Framework plugin installed.
    2. In your admin, go to Settings > RPS Image Gallery.
    3. Select the Compatibility tab.
    4. Make sure fancyBox is set to “On”
    5. Select the Slideshow tab.
    6. Make sure Slideshow is set to “On”.
    7. Select “Save Changes”

If you find both options were already set to “On”, you can disable – save – then enable – save to ensure the options are saved to the database.

Let us know how that works out for you. If it doesn’t, we’ll dig a bit more to see what we can find.

Understood. There is a nice plugin to handle the refresh of thumbnails. Have a look at Regenerate Thumbnails. Let us know if it addresses the issue for you.

It makes sense. We’ll see about getting the image dimensions added.
