Bad news. I updated to the 1.0.8 version of FSE Handyman and the problem returned. (see included screen shot). I then rolled back to 1.0.5 and the homepage is back the way it should be.

I rolled this theme back to 1.0.5 and the problem was fixed. My static home page now works.
