my bad. apart from activating the plugin, you also need to activate the theme in order to have the gantry setting on the left side bar
I faced the problem too until I find it weird to have this problem with every single twitter plugin installed. In the end i realised that the problem might not be the plugin itself but the setting within twitter. I opened up setting and unchecked ‘Protect my Tweets’ under Tweet privacy. It works. I’m not quite sure if its possible to have my tweets protected and at the same time displaying my recent tweets in my site.
