  • I have picked up a project to complete a site I started before Gutenberg. I found that the Gutenberg conversion of a post which was still in draft mode was converted as a single paragraph. When highlighted, the edit header at the top of the block showed that it was a paragraph. The settings box on the top right showed Classic (Use the classic WordPress editor). Back on the paragraph edit header box ,the right end menu has an option to Convert to Blocks which reformatted the post to blocks

The format was not anywhere near correct. The text was placed in paragraph blocks. The images were placed into image blocks, but the images blocks contained each image twice, one smaller with the caption and the larger one without a caption. The images with text flowing around them were placed in a text box and were basically not editable.

I converted the post to blocks, then created a new block of the appropriate type next to the existing. I copied and pasted the text, inserted the same media in the appropriate boxes, then deleted to old content.

I have not done a lot of WordPress creation, but I never really was able to get the Classic editor to place and wrap text to my liking. I always had trouble knowing how the text was going to place and flow with the classic editor. Since it appears the Gutenberg is the future, I am taking the time to figure it out. It is taking a bit of trial and error, but I am starting to catch on. I am liking the flexibility of Gutenberg. Hope this helps!

I am wondering if these issues are 2014 Theme issues or just the editor conversion.
