Alright. Thanks. I think I’m good on that.

A related question/problem: If a post a link on Facebook to a post, it includes that first post image in the Facebook post, which is good. But when I post a link to my main blog page, it’s using a seemingly random image. It’s not the first image on the page. Is it possible to change it to a specific image in the Facebook preview?

Hm. The theme I use has had a few updates pushed out lately. I wonder if one of the updates messed the meta tagging up.

    Here’s my latest post: http://robbysuave.com/jam-session-8/

I have an image at the top, just like all of my posts. I’m not sure how meta tagging works in WordPress. I just installed a plugin different from what you linked me to because it looks like that one hasn’t been updated in a while and won’t be updated. For each image in my library, I have the ability to add alt text, a title, a “legend,” and a description. Do these correspond to the errors I get from the Sharing Debugger?

    Inferred Property
The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

    Share App ID Missing
The ‘fb:app_id’ property should be explicitly provided, Specify the app ID so that stories shared to Facebook will be properly attributed to the app. Alternatively, app_id can be set in url when open the share dialog.

Edit: After adding the missing fields from the meta data plugin, I’m only getting 2 errors now.

Edit again: Now when I post a link on Facebook, I get even worse results. It’s like it’s showing the HTML for the preview instead of the text.

Using the Sharing Debugger, I can see that the images seem to be missing all the “og” properties. What would cause that? All I’m doing is copying and pasting the URL into a Facebook post.

I think I fixed my problem. I did quite a few things, so I’m not sure exactly which thing did the trick (maybe it was a combination of things?), but one thing to try is to go into Dashboard > Updates and click the Re-install Now button.

That’s what I’ve been reading too, but that doesn’t seem to be helping my case any. I think WordPress offers livechat, which is almost as good as telephone support.

I’m still not having any luck. Are you? By the way, who is your host? I wonder if this isn’t an issue caused by the host.

I’m getting a very similar error, and it seems to have popped up out of nowhere. I haven’t made any updates since the last time I was in the Admin CP.
