Try logging out of your edit session. This seems to complete the process of saving the embedding of the slideshow or any changes to it. At the moment I am finding my slideshow runs fine after I have done the logout. Clearly something is not quite right if you have to keep logging out all the time and I hope it will be by the author patched soon, but for the moment this seems to work.
